Hertford is a great place to work, especially if you run a small business. It’s outside London so you avoid paying London rents, but close enough to the capital to make it straightforward to get to meetings.
There are a number of short- and long-term car parks in Hertford, with all day parking in the Hartham Common long stay car park costing £4.40. On-street parking in the town centre is restricted so if you’re looking for free parking, be prepared to walk! Visitors will be able to park for restricted periods in the supermarket car parks, but in Sainsbury’s you will need to spend money in-store in order to get a refund for your parking.
There are a number of business networking groups which will give you access to many other SMEs. From groups designed for businesswomen, such as Athena or the Women in Business Network, and from very informal local groups like Business Buzz, to the more formal county-wide groups like Herts Chamber of Commerce, there’s something that’ll suit everyone.
If you rent an office, desk space or hire the meeting room at The UOE Hub Hertford, you’ll be networking all the time. Hot desking means there’s an ever-changing stream of regular faces, and a huge range of small businesses to network with.
Find out more about our membership and request a FREE day pass so that you can experience the networking opportunities on offer at our shared serviced office.
Hertford is full of great cafés and restaurants if you ever need to treat a client (or yourself!) You can use your membership card for a 20% discount at The UOE Espresso Bar, but if you want to go further afield, there are also many small independent cafés and pubs in the town serving everything from high quality sandwiches and salads to cheap as chips comfort food. Independent restaurants serve virtually everything from Italian, Mediterranean, Japanese, Thai and Indian to gourmet and even Mexican street food. The town is also well served by the well-known coffee shops and restaurant chains.
After a hard morning’s work, clear your head and allow creative ideas to form on a short stroll through The Hertford Castle grounds (about a minute away from The UOE Hub), or a slightly longer ramble on Hartham Common or down the footpath alongside the River Lea are bound to do the job.
